The Partnership for Learning & Skills to advance safer engineering in East Africa (PLEASE) project is funded by Lloyd’s Register Foundation (LRF). We empower East Africa’s maritime and energy sectors by building local engineering skills for safer, greener, and more efficient port operations. Our programs strengthen safety leadership and support sustainable technological transitions across the region.

The work package focuses on capacity building for engineering students to provide them with relevant knowledge and skills on emerging technologies to become future safety leaders and drive broader.
This work package supports safety up-skilling of engineering professionals already working in energy, maritime and associated sectors. Three professional short courses will be developed and delivered.
This work package centers on a bespoke apprenticeship program for early-career graduates in marine engineering to boost their safety skills. The project will recruit apprentices at KPA for on-job safety skills training.
This work package focuses on dissemination, engagement and communication. Workshops, seminars and round-tables shall be organized to communicate and disseminate the project results to diverse stakeholders.
